International Commissioner of Australia 

Applications are now being sought for the volunteer position of International Commissioner of Scouts Australia

 

This Nationally appointed role (term of initially 3years) is critical for the effective operation of Scouts Australia, in particular as a member country of the World Scout Movement. The role has complete oversight of all International Scouting programs and ensures that all aspects of International Scouting are delivered efficiently and effectively on behalf of Scouts Australia.

The primary purpose of the International Commissioner of Australia is to ensure the beliefs and interests of Scouts Australia are represented internationally, including but not limited to:

  • facilitating Scouts Australia’s relationship with the World Organization of the Scout Movement;
  • overseeing the development and the of Australian Contingents and activities overseas;
  • promoting international activities and events to members;
  • liaising with National Scout Organizations and Associations;
  • overseeing support to other National Scout Organizations and Associations; and
  • coordinating, as appropriate, the reception of visiting Scouts from overseas.

This is a significant role and requires the successful applicant to have the time to commit to a multifaceted function and be able to work across many stakeholders, both domestically and internationally. A strong ability to lead and manage to tight deadlines is critical

Once received, the selection panel will shortlist candidates and arrange to conduct interviews and referee checks. Please note that for those candidates progressing to interview a short presentation may be required – details will be provided at a later stage. Unsuccessful candidates will be advised once the final candidate has been selected and accepted the role.
