What is a WSJ?

Lord Baden Powell, the founder of World Scout Jamboree, invited young people from all over the world and wanted them to exchange cultures and enjoy adventure. It was in 1920 that the first World Scout Jamboree was realized, held in the Olympia halls in Kensington, London. WSJ will be held every four years in each NSO, and World Scout Conference, which is held every three years, will decide the venue through the vote of its representatives of each NSOs.

In 1991, the 17th World Scout Jamboree was successfully held in 1991 in Goseng, Ganwondo-Province with 19,093 participants from 135 countries under the theme of ‘Many Lands, One World.’ World Scout Jamboree is a worldwide youth camp held every four years with the aim of cultural exchange and building friendships. It is the world’s leading international youth event with more than 50,000 teenagers from 169 countries.

The Korean Scout Association succeeded in winning the right to host the 25th World Scout Jamboree in Seamanguem, Jeollabuk-do Province at the 41st World Scout Conference in Baku, Azerbaijan on August in 2017. The 25th World Scout Jamboree will be held from 1 to 12 August in 2023 in Saemangeum, Jeollabuk-do Province, Korea!
